Troy is Executive Director of the
conceptual™:group and conceptual:hotels™, and fulfils the same principal role
at each of the new and existing conceptual:™ business ventures. He is also a
Director at Hospitality Laboratories.
He is a graduate of
the Swiss Hotel Association and Le Cordon Bleu schools, a post-graduate
alumnus of Oxford Brookes University
Business School,
and member of the Institute
of Hospitality.
His international management experiences in Asia and the Americas include senior
management roles in some extremely high profile openings, with the likes of
The Peninsula Hotels, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, Le Méridien, Four
Seasons, and Las Vegas Sands Corporation’s The Venetian® and Paiza brands.
Well noted for his passion towards pioneering unique operating solutions and
extraordinary service experiences, culture building, and his people
management expertise; he has appeared in National Geographic's specials on
the opening of the world’s largest casino in Macau, and written articles for
the International Society of Hospitality Consultants (ISHC). He was invited
to speak at the International Hotel & Restaurant Association’s
(IH&RA) world congress in 2000 on ‘creating visionary organisations’ when
his then online resource - newhotelier.com helped open the industry’s eyes to
the advent of generation X and Y hoteliers – and travellers.

Fraser is a
Director, and General Manager of the conceptual:™group,
a principal consultant at the inspiring
conceptual:hotels™,
and Managing Director of Hospitality Laboratories™.
Formerly Group
General Manager of Research & Technology for The Peninsula Hotels, he is
a noted hospitality technology visionary, innovator and pioneer. Across three
decades with The Peninsula Hotels, he was behind the introduction of a number
of hotel industry technology innovations - from the first hotel with a
computer and internet access in every room, to sophisticated and intuitive
bed-side panels, among various unique in-room technologies that complement
rather than compete with the design and ambiance. Much of the most highly
sought after bespoke technology developed exclusively for The Peninsulas’
were designed in an intriguing loft-like private R&D lab Fraser
established for the group in as early as the mid-80’s.
The unique
laboratory, another hotel industry first, and Fraser’s out-of-the-box
approach led to his affectionately being dubbed ‘Q’ by both his peers and
later the BBC (in reference to the character made famous in so many James Bond
films, a scientist at MI5’s R&D lab who seemingly has invented a gadget
for every eventuality secret agents may encounter).
Fraser is an
Executive Advisor, and former Board Member of the industry’s leading
technology body - Hotel Technology Next Generation (HTNG); and
he is a Fellow of the Institute
of Electrical and
Electronics Engineers. In addition to his academic background in Radio
Physics, his experience and expertise has spanned across industries from
hospitality, to aviation, broadcasting, communications and manufacturing. His
frequent appearances include interviews on CNN, the BBC and speaking
engagements at all of the hospitality and tourism industry’s key
international conferences and events. Fraser also serves as a member of
various Advisory Boards including more recently to Lorica Solutions.
He is an alumnus of
the University of Adelaide, University
of New South Wales, and Stanford University; and was inducted into the Hospitality
Finance & Technology Professionals (HFTP) Hall of Fame at
HITEC in 2008. His other previous international awards include the
prestigious Personnalite de L’annee Distinction International Hotellerie in
December 1993.
